12/31:

Woke up at noon and went to Time Square; ready to start the long fight until the new year count down!

There turned out to be more than 50 people from Taiwan who planed on the net in advance gathered together today; I even met another friend of mine that's also being an exchange student in Arizona!

Passing the security check, time sneaked by silently when we were introducing ourselves and playing games.

By the way, there’s another group of Taiwanese people on the other side of the street as it’s easy to tell when we all have flags!

Five o’clock in the evening, we started singing the national anthem together as it’s when the national flag-rising ceremony in Taiwan, where the time should be 6 in the morning, the first day of 2011, which is also the 100 anniversary of Republic of China.

Starting from 6 p.m., the official planned performances started on the stage; in addition to the singers, there’s counting down every hour, showing other countries at different time zones.

Also, as the control area got larger and larger, we had more space and were finally able to sit down after standing for more than 4 hours.

The souvenirs and the performances are great encouragement for us to keep waiting.

Lesson learned when backstreet boys showed up: time and tide wait for no one....:S

Finally, after waiting for more than 10 hours, the last count down in 2010 ended, welcoming the first sound of 2011: Happy New Year!

Actually the crystal ball was not as giant as imagined, the firework was not so extravagant compared to Taipei 101; The atmosphere and the companion is what makes time square one of the best destination for new year countdown.

Suggestion: better to bring someone to kiss with when new year comes; I don’t know if you can also find such a big crowd of Taiwanese people and cute girls like I did.....:P

Our ten people little group went to Korean restaurant for food; $30 bucks for a set of Korean BBQ is expensive, considering the timing however, let’s just enjoy the food!

After waving goodbye to May and Ryan, our little group went back to pick up our luggage; it’s time to go visit Boston!

而且除了我們這團以外在隔著走道的另一區也有台灣國旗和一堆台灣人,這就是愛台灣啦;

每個整點還有倒數其他國家的跨年提醒&小煙火,而且管制區域擴大所以我們甚至可以坐下來,也順利拿到了跨年發送的紀念品;
